Edward wrote 'driving around Wellington's coast in search of the elusive aurora we noticed a group of photographer's lurking in the shadows. They pointed us to a faint glow on the horizon and following an unplanned plunge into a rock pool we arrived at our spot. Photo shot 23:41 2 June 2025 on a Canon R5 with a 17-40mm f4 lens.'

David wrote 'two bright lights at 06:11 on 29 May 2025. The left-hand one is Venus. The right-hand light was moving very slowly and steadily to the right (to the southeast), wasn't blinking or pulsing. It had passed by Venus about 15(?) minutes before this photo was taken. Just curious what it was? Weather balloon?

Gerard Cleary also sent in a similar photograph. He wrote 'photo of UFO I saw this morning from Rangiora at 6:00 29 May 2025. Looking east. Venus can be seen to the left and UFO to the right. It was very bright blurry spot. I could not figure out what it was and saw later media report it may be a failed SpaceX rocket that went down in the Indian ocean.

Please provide the full name of the photographer and as much detail about the photograph - location, time and prevailing weather. It is also useful to know camera and exposure details and the direction the camera was pointing. Most of the photographs that we publish are from New Zealand, however we are happy to consider interesting photographs of weather phenomena from any part of the world.

We are often approached by book and magazine editors for permission to use photographs shown here. We do not divulge your contact details but are happy to pass on such requests to you as they arise.
