He wrote 'this is a view of the Torlesse Range from State Highway 73 at Castle Hill Station showing the cloud effects from a nor'west weather system.' Peter Miller 'This was taken at 14:17 on 17 July 2009 from the top of Porter heights ski field looking west over lake Coleridge into the building NW cloud. Fantastic snow conditions. 'Phone: Nokia 6121 with a 2.0 megapixel camera in panoramic mode (this is 2 images combined by the phone).' 'Location: the west of West Eyreton, North Canterbury, looking west.' 'Weather: a cool morning with a heavy mist as it was burning off. The sort of mist that burns off in a matter of minutes. I saw this 'cloud bow'. It was much clearer but by the time I realised what I was seeing and got the phone out it was almost gone. Seconds later it was gone. Regards, Scott Baker.' Helen Greenfield Helen's photo was taken Saturday 18th July 2009 from the top of the Bridle Path on the Port Hills on the day that fog closed Christchurch airport. She wrote 'Weather at the top was warm and sunny. At the bottom (in the fog), it was bitterly cold and drab.'
